Three Wrestlers Head to Pueblo, Colorado for National Championship

In its inaugural season as a program, the Maryville University wrestling squad will send three representatives to the 2012 NCAA Division II National Championship in Pueblo, Colo. The two-day event will be hosted by Colorado State University-Pueblo at Massari Arena and runs March 9-10.

Head coach Mike Denney has three Saints aiming for the school’s first-ever national champion: junior Matt Baker, freshman Tyrell Galloway and freshman Keenan Hagerty. Baker is ranked second in the 197-pound weight class and has posted a 33-6 record, including six falls. He won the Super Region 3 contested two weeks ago in St. Cloud, Minn. Last year, Baker was named an All-American. A true freshman, Galloway has a 24-12 record with three falls. At the regional meet, he finished third in the 141-pound classification.  Hagerty, another freshman for the Saints, has amassed a 30-6 record with seven falls this season in the 149-pound division. He recorded a fourth-place finish at the regional meet in St. Cloud.
