Maryville redshirt freshman
Andrew Naegeli (St. Louis, Mo. / Vianney) was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference baseball Freshman of the Year in a vote by the league's coaches. In addition, the outfielder was selected second-team All-GLVC West Division.
Â
Naegeli led the team with a .394 batting average, and he ranked third in the GLVC. In conference games only, he hit at a .430 rate. Naegeli set a Maryville freshman record with 63 hits and recorded 22 multi-hit games. He led the team in runs scored (30) and on-base percentage (.430). Naegeli finished with six doubles, one triple and 15 RBIs.
Â
Naegeli delivered in the clutch as he batted .455 with runners in scoring position. He did not commit a fielding error in 43 chances and did not hit into a double play. Bolstered by Naegeli, the Saints more than double their number of GLVC wins from last season.
