St. Louis - The Maryville women's tennis team had its most successful run in NCAA Division II come to an end in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Tournament 5-0 by No. 47-ranked Lewis University at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis. The Saints finished the season with a 14-6 record.
The Saints battled in the top two doubles positions but Philine Schlorf and Adriana Armendariz and Anne Lutz and Makenna Parker dropped 8-3 decisions at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, respectively. Nicole Kitsuse and Renske Linders fell 8-2 in the third doubles slot.
Schlorf, the GLVC Freshman of the Year, squared off against GLVC Player of the Year Zsofia Kranzicki and was down just 4-3 but their match went unfinished as Lewis won decisions at No. 2 and No. 4 doubles to close out the match. Lutz and Parker both won four games in their individual matches but those contests were also not completed.
