Indianapolis - After throwing Maryville University's first perfect game in program history, senior
Robbie Gordon (St. Louis, Mo. / Ladue) was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week for the period ending Sunday, March 13.
Â
Gordon retired all 21 batters he faced Sunday as the Saints defeated Hillsdale College 2-0. He faced 21 batters and retired them via nine strikeouts, seven ground outs and five fly outs. He had at least one strikeout in each of the first six innings. Gordon's efforts helped Maryville stop Hillsdale's nine-game winning streak, and the Saints have won all four games in which he has appeared. Gordon's perfect game is the first in any of the NCAA's three divisions this season.
Â
The Saints (9-9) are next in action Tuesday, March 15, as they travel to Lebanon, Ill., to face McKendree in a non-conference game starting at 2 p.m.
