The Maryville women's tennis team was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the 2018 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship by No. 25 and second-seeded Indianapolis 5-1 Friday. The Saints had earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament played at Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo.

The Saints battled in the first two doubles matches but would not produce a point. At No. 3,
Ashley Dowden and
Sandra Hinterberger pulled out a 9-7 victory to get Maryvile on the board.

In the singles draw, Maryville's All-GLVC selection
Sarah Etter challenged GLVC Player of the Year Hanna Volikova at the top singles match. However, Etter lost a 6-4, 6-2 decision to the UIndy standout. At No. 2 singles, Hinterberger took on GLVC Freshman of the Year Alina Kislickaya but fell in straight sets 6-1, 6-3.
Lina Kunert looked to extend the match at No. 3 but dropped a 6-3, 6-3 contest.

The Saints see their record dip to 10-7 overall, while the Greyhounds improve to 15-5.
