Ozark, Mo. – The Maryville baseball team has held to only six hits as Bellarmine eliminated the Saints from the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Tournament, 6-1 Saturday morning at U.S. Baseball Park in Ozark, Mo. Maryville finishes the year with a 28-25 record, which is the best mark in the Division II era.
The Knights scored runs in the first and third inning to take an early 2-0 lead over the Saints. After Bellarmine plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth to extend the lead to 4-0, the Saints cracked the scoreboard as
Brennan Williams was hit by a pitch to open the inning. Williams moved to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on a
Louis Niemerg single to put runners at the corners. Willimas scored on a
Dalton Schumer single to left center to cut the deficit to 4-1. The Knights added an insurance runs in the seventh and eighth to extend the lead to 6-1 and held on to eliminate the Saints from the tournament.
