East Peoria, Ill. - Playing an elimination game in the 2016 Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Tournament in East Peoria, Ill., Maryville stayed alive with a 6-0 victory over William Jewell. The Saints will take on the University of Missouri-St. Louis, which lost a 7-5 game in 11 innings to Southern Indiana, in an elimination game at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30.

In the top of the second,
Bri Livingston slashed an RBI single to give the Saints a 1-0 edge. In the fourth inning, Livingston doubled the Maryville lead with a sac fly to right that scored pinch runner
Hope Miller. The Saints struck for two more runs in the fifth.
Kelsey Martin and
Ashley Marks recorded back-to-back basehits.
Krystal Rock put down a sac bunt to move the duo into scoring position.
Nikki Taylor reached on a WJC miscue but still drove in Martin and Marks also sprinted home for a 4-0 lead.
Casey Ward sharply singled up the middle in the sixth to score
Courtney Ferguson.
Wendy Macias had a seeing-eye single through the left side of the infield that drove home Marks to build a 6-0 cushion.

Macias was splendid in the circle as she surrendered just two hits to record the shutout win, her 21st victory of the season. Maryville backed its starting pitcher with 10 hits on the offensive side of the ledge. The Saints are now 37-13 on the year, while William Jewell ends its season with a record of 24-28.
